We Say Bamboulee tricked by the wild.
Its a possibility that We Say Bamboulee have no preconception of what they have created, merely stumbling through a creative process and pasting together a bunch of tracks that you may or may not like. But it doesnt feel that way. For a debut EP, there were several clues that led me to the assumption that these guys had put some thought behind its creation. For one, the tracks make no attempt to be a small bag of singles, hopeful to attract the attention of Sir Richard Kingsmill for the elusive Triple J play. For instance, the opening track seems like its purpose is greater than to catch the attention of non-chalant indie kids waiting for the next cool pop song (that they will be hating on in 1 week). Instead, it creates interest through spaciousness and the most Australian sounding vocals since John Williamson and I actually like it. Providing contrast normally not seen on your average 4 track EP, but this isnt a 4 track EP... Its an 8-track body of work that is sitting between a whole album and an EP. Its great to see this three-piece from Sydney happily sitting outside the square as they have always done. With inspirations clearly coming from their musical neighbours Philly J's and PVT, this 8-track contains interesting tracks with melting layers and unique hooks. The only criticisms of the EP is at points it seems lacklustre with possible shortfalls in production, but overall it has definately cemented We Say Bamboulee's place amongst some of the more interesting electro acts within Sydney. WSB will be launching their new EP 'Bush Tricks' at Good God Small Club on Thursday November 4th and will be joined by MegaStickFanfare and Bon Chat Bon Rat. Stream new Bagraiders album
After what feels like years of waiting in anticipation with a couple of wicked teasers along the way (shooting stars and fun punch), Bagraiders have finally released their self titled debut album and its nothing short of brilliant. Great reference from all decades over the last 50 years throughout, catchy hooks and wicked textures make this album a highlight of 2010 for Sydney Music.

RAPIDS new single and film Clip 'The Phillip, The Hawk'
Rapids have just released their brand new single 'The Phillip, The Hawk'. It ventures into darker territory than the tracks off their debut EP and shows a side to Rapids that is unexpected, yet familiar. The spacious structure and catchy hooks remain, but the vocals really tear down the ordinary and are not comfortable amongst the harmonies and pitch perfect melodys of the present day. The clip really blows me away. Its cinematic, well timed, and brilliantly shot, capturing the feel of the song perfectly and starring all members of the band in a fearful and taunting chase through a dreamy forest into a dark and devil worship-like cavern. The best part is that the track is available to download for free here; www.rapidstheband.bandcamp.com

Cameras EP taster track - 'Polarise' FREE!
Cameras have this etherial quality that seems amiss in the rest of the Sydney music scene. Edible tones and textures combine with soft and dreamy vocals to create tracks nothing short of stunning. Winning the opportunity to have a film clip shot by NIDA upstarts via the Triple J unearthed website, and now heading off to air their wares at Brissy's show-off fest Big Sound, good things are definitely on their way. Unselfishly, they have offered up a freebie as a taster for their forthcoming EP. 'Polarise' has all sorts of flavours in it from despairing vocals, smashy ragtime piano and big ballad drum-roll but together it all just seems to beautifully work.

New Navy - Animals
These guys are from smack bang in the middle of Sydney (sorted! ed.) and occasionally enjoy the odd trip to Wollongong or Bali. This is their brand new clip for Animals, a really strong ballad along the lines of White Lies and Foals. The clip is a simple concept, but well shot which has made all the difference. New Navy has a habit of playing shows in Sydney, so dont feel like you have to make the distance to enjoy their set. Just hit up their myspace; http://www.myspace.com/newnavymusic.
